Version 1.2 ready for playtesting
Nuke-Z » Devlog
Hello everyone, been a few months!
I've been working on and off on the game, creating some new systems and improving existing ones, let's quickly go through all of them, and some future updates I have planned
1.2 Updates
- New zombie animations and dynamic level of agressiveness: All the animations of the zombies have been reworked from the ground up, including new animations for walking, which are directly tied to the agressiveness of the zombies.
As the rounds progress, zombies will get faster and their movement will update accordingly, at higher rounds, zombies will begin running towards the player mercilessly. - Aim Down Sights, Recoil and Bullet spread: Guns were pretty boring in the first 2 builds of the game, with only a basic animation simulating some sort of recoil, they lacked any finesse or polish, so I spent the past few days working on getting them to aim down those sights, have a real kick every shoot, and as an extra, give a tiny bit of randomness to each shot (Both recoil and spread are considerably toned down when aiming!)
- Weapon Sway: In the same spirit, as the previous point, a minor addition for polish and overall feel of the game is weapon sway, weapons will now rotate accordingly to the direction the camera is moving.
- Perks: What is a COD Zombies styled mode without those perks? A barebones experience, and while that is not problematic in and of itself, perks really do make the experience unique. Experiment with the 3 brand new perks (Still working on the names) Revive, Health Increase and Fast Reload!
- Minor balance changes
- Minor graphical changes
Future Updates
- Weapon Upgrade system: Pack-A-Punch, just like that.
- New map: I've started blocking out and planning a new map, this time taking place in a rundown airport, infested with the uranium filled undead!
- "Dog" rounds: We all know them, we all love them, special rounds inspired by the Hellhounds are planned, with the current main idea being a suicide bomber zombie that attemps to blow up when making contact
- New weapons
- Multiplayer support: This is nor final nor in actual development, multiplayer is something I have never attempted and the project was not built with it in mind, so major rewrites and changes may be needed to make it possible.
This update is NOT ready for release yet, I've just compiled the first test build and will now begin a playtesting phase to ensure it's as bug free and fuctional as possible for release, unless some major problems happen, I expect it to be ready for either this or next week.
